Merry Christmas...a day late.

Our family enjoyed the first, of which I am sure will be many, fun Christmases. And, even though the "babies" are only three weeks old, they are already pulling in a disgusting amount of loot. Oh to be the first grandchildren on both sides of the family! It does come with its privileges. Check out the great pics, Caulder with a post card from Santa, Bridger "the big nosed" Chesapeake and Danielle and Kessler in their new hats.

Kessler went into the Doctor's office today for a weighing and he is up to 6 pounds 4 ounces, yeah. That's an impressive weight gain of 10 ounces in one week. Although Caulder wasn't weighed we expect he is on a comparable scale, as he is slightly bigger and chunkier than Kes.

I hope everyone is having a good holiday and getting as much snow as we are. Be sure and take advantage of it if you haven't yet.

Home At Last...Woohoo!

The Kids are home at last! They passed all their check out exams, an exhausting array that included a 90 minute car seat test, a stress test, bilirubin test, and the on-going weight gain test. Like true little champs they passed them all with flying colors. They are safe and sound in their home where we plan on bunkering down for a month before we start integrating them into society. This sound advice comes from their pediatrician Dr. Greg Johnson. Be forewarned, if you venture over we'll ask you to be virus free and submit to a thorough scrub-in before handling the babies.

Thanks for all the emails they have been really great. The support from everyone is awesome.

1 week old

The babies are already a week old. Can you believe it. Everything is going great. They are both breathing and eating on their own. They have even surpassed their birth weight. We have been on a routine visiting schedule at the hospital, and have gotten to know many of the wonderful nurses in the NICU. We are constantly amazed at the care they are receiving. They will be given their last round of antibiotics tomorrow morning, and with any luck will be comming home afterwards. Finally! We absolutely can't wait to have our whole family at home.

The Birth of a Family

Well, it has finally happened. On December 5, 2007 at 6:01 and 6:03 PM Kessler Xelis Weaver and Caulder Richard Weaver were unceremoniously "yanked" into this world, they weighed 5 pounds 5 ounces and 5 pounds and 6 ounces respectively. Their arrival was probably a little before they were ready and as such things were not ideal in the start, but we're glad to report that all seems very positive now. They are working on there fifth day of life in the NICU and are doing very very well, they are both breast/bottle feeding now. They seem to be leap frogging each other as to whom will be ready to go home first (competition from the start apparently). Caulder is already off any breathing support but is a little behind in feeding. Kessler on the other hand is still receiving a little bit of help breathing (hopefully off the nasal cannula soon), but is already eating like a true Weaver. We hope that they'll be ready to head home as soon as they are done with their antibiotic regiment (three more days yeah).

Danielle is also doing very well and is working on making a smashing recovery from the c-section. She is home now and already traversing our mountain of stairs three times a day to visit the babies.

We couldn't have made it though our ordeal with out the help and visits from friends and family. Especially Dick and Dee Dee who have given us invaluable support.
